The project involves the development of an open space, in conjunction with a promenade along the banks of the Isère, Quai Jongking, in the district of Green Island in Grenoble. We had to confront an area highly characterized by structural elements such as the river, the mountains and the «edges» of the city. The place in which we operated is directly linked to a territorial element, the Isere river, one of the characters is that of continuity, as any watercourse; meanwhile continuity feeds and queries the fabric of the city that comes to adapt, or stops at this limit.
The project is about the fluidity and continuity imposed by the proximity of the Isère. This vocabulary is transcribed in the architecture by the simple and formal vocabulary: the straight line: it takes the form of thick walls but a fixed height which varies according to the needs. There are three different heights : a foundation for another to frame the view of the Bastille and the last with a structural function.
